CHARLESTON, Mo. -- An 18-year-old Charleston resident is in custody after being accused of fatally shooting another local teen.
Jamarius Fisher was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Jacquon Smith, 18, of Charleston.
Fisher is being held without bond in the Mississippi County Jail.
Charleston Department of Public Safety director Robert Hearnes said at 12:08 p.m. Friday, officers received calls of a person shot in the the 500 block of Sy Williams (South Elm).
At the scene, officers found an unresponsive man, later identified as Smith, with a gunshot wound.
Smith died at the scene, Hearnes said.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted with the investigation.
