In addition to the full-price taxi service and 24-hour call-ahead discounts, the Cape Girardeau County Transit Authority offers reduced cost on-demand service under several programs. Those programs, and their costs, include:

* Southeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging: $1 suggested donation. For senior citizens and people with certified disabilities, the authority provides up to 600 rides per month. Rides are restricted to trips for medical care, pharmacies and nutrition. The transit authority suggests calling 24 hours in advance to schedule the ride.

* Medicaid: People using the Medicaid program can receive free transportation for non-emergency medical care through the state's contractor, Logisticare. Rides must be scheduled three days in advance by calling (866) 588-5120.

* Paratransit: $3. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the transit authority must provide on-demand service for anyone with a certified disability who lives within 3/4 of a mile of the bus route. There are no restrictions on the destinations except that they must also be within 3/4 of a mile of the bus route. Users must file a statement from their physician certifying their inability to reach the bus route.
