MCCLURE, Ill. -- A 20-year-old Tamms woman sustained major injuries Monday when the car she was driving sideswiped another vehicle on the Grapevine Trail.
Teneiko Modicue was taken to St. Francis Medical Center after the 4:50 p.m. accident, 4.3 miles from Route 3. She was in stable condition Monday night, and at 10 p.m. was being evaluated in the emergency room.
The driver of the other car, Norma Clemons, 49, of Ullin, received minor injuries and sought treatment from her physician.
A spokesman for the Illinois State Police said the two vehicles were 4.3 miles from Route 3 traveling in opposite directions on the Gravevine Trail when Modicue's car crossed the center line on a curve, sideswiped the other car and forced it into a ditch.
Modicue was cited for driving in the wrong lane.
