St. Francis Medical Center's annual Womancare Conference, a day filled with seminars, presentations, displays and health screenings, will be held Nov. 2 at the University Center.

An optional "Pamper Yourself Night" is slated Nov. 1 at the Cape Girardeau Holiday Inn.

Corporate sponsors for the conference include Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Marion, Southeast Missouri State University and St. Francis Medical Center.

Featured speakers at this year's Womancare Conference are Mamie McCullough and Shirley Lucero.

McCullough, creator of the "I Can" curriculum, is a motivational speaker and author of several books, including "I Can. You Can Too!"

Lucero was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. She underwent a radical mastectomy and chemotherapy and recovered in time to witness her daughter compete in 1988 Olympic spring-board competition. Lucero's presentation is sponsored by the American Cancer Society's Celebrities Against Cancer program.

Another feature at this year's conference will be a presentation by Susan Johnson, director of continuing education at the Institute for Aerobics Research in Dallas, Texas. In addition to her position with the institute, she is a clinician and consultant with the National Fitness Foundation in California and the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports in Washington D.C.
