The Cape Girardeau County Republican Women's Club will host the 33rd annual Republican Lincoln Day Dinner at 6:30 p.m. March 8 at the A.C. Brase Arena Building in Cape Girardeau.

"We're extremely excited to host the 33rd annual Lincoln Day Dinner with Missouri's new junior U.S. Senator, Jim Talent, serving as keynote speaker for the evening," said Diane Diebold, Cape Girardeau County collector and president of the club. "Obviously, this year's Lincoln Day Celebration is special because of the Republican victories last November that placed the trust of the American people and Missourians in the hands of Republicans as the majority party in the 108th U.S. Congress, as well as the Missouri Legislature."

In addition to Talent, other notable Republicans expected to attend include Missouri's senior U.S. Sen. Christopher S. "Kit" Bond, Missouri Secretary of State Matt Blunt, Missouri Senate President Pro Tem Peter Kinder, Missouri Speaker of the House Catherine Hanaway and numerous other Republican state representatives from Southeast Missouri.

Rep. Scott Lipke of the 157th District will serve as master of ceremonies.

Advance tickets for Lincoln Day can be purchased at Horizon Screen Printing, 430 Broadway in Cape Girardeau, The Cash-Book Journal, 210 W. Main St. in Jackson or by calling 335-3025. Tickets are $15 a person unless purchased after Sunday, when they increase to $20 a person.

Through the years, the event has grown to where it is the second most attended Lincoln Day event in Missouri, surpassed only by the statewide Republican Lincoln Day annual meeting typically held in St. Louis, Kansas City or Springfield.
