Entry forms for the Annual Talent Show during Jackson Homecomers Celebration are available at the Jackson Chamber of Commerce office. The forms must be returned by Aug. 15, with participation being on a first-come, first-served basis.
Homecomers will be Aug. 22-26, also the first week of school. The talent show Wednesday through Friday. It will be held on the stage in front of the courthouse, as always.
Wednesday night will be reserved for talent acts other than dancing, for ages 6-12 and 13-21. There is no piano available for piano solos. Thursday night is reserved for dancing, groups or solos, ages 16-12 and 13-21. First, second, third and fourth place winners will be honored in each division each night.
Winners and runners-up may compete Friday. Winners on finals night will receive prizes and plaques. The overall winner of the 13-21 age group will be invited to the Youth Talent Contest at the MidSouth Fair in Memphis. A representative from the fair will be there finals night and may invite others to participate in the fair, as well.
Amateur acts of singing, dancing, acrobatics and instrumentals are invited to take part in the talent show, individually or in groups or duets. There is no piano and the stage is outdoors.
In the event of overwhelming numbers of entries, the talent show will be extended. There is expected to be a limited number of slots, though, so those interested should pick up an entry form at the Jackson Chamber of Commerce office right away, write The Jackson Homecomers Talent Show; c/o Jackson Chamber of Commerce; P.O.
