Take Off Pounds Sensibly to honor members at convention

A two-day convention beginning today at the Plaza Conference Center and the Arena Building will recognize nearly 900 Missouri Take Off Pounds Sensibly members.

Founded in 1948, TOPS is the oldest international, not-for-profit weight-loss support group. The club's philosophy is that desire to change comes from within an individual, and the most effective way to sustain change is to provide a supportive environment.

Members who have reached goals and maintained losses will celebrate via seminars, a baggy-clothing parade, dancing and bingo. Saturday's activities include an 8 a.m. walk and donation of clothing to local women's shelters.
