Employees of ARI Industries donated their time and equipment to grill 1,000 hot dogs for Jackson High School students during a recent Drug Free Lunch. The event was sponsored by the drug Free School/Community Council and the Teen Spirit group of Jackson High School. The event promoted staying drug free for the 2000 prom.

The Drug Free T-shirts this year featured a local landmark, the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse. The sale of these T-shirts and sponsorship of the annual 5K run/1 Mile Walk July 4 help support activities such as the free lunch event, throughout the year.

Local businesses can purchase T-shirts, personalized with their business name, by contacting Debbie Campbell at 243-2040. Personalized order deadline is June 20. The cost of shirts is $8.50.

T-shirts, without personalization, may be purchased at SEMO Specialties and Sports at 131 S. High in Jackson. These T-shirts, in sizes 10-12 youth and XL for adults, are $8.

Registration for the July 4 5K run, 5K Competitive Walk, 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk can be taken care of on the day of the race, July 4. Registration will begin at 7 a.m., next to the swimming pool in the Jackson City Park.
