The Southeast Missouri State University Orchestra will present a symphonic orchestra concert, featuring works by Bach, Beethoven and Kreisler tonight at Academic Auditorium.
The concert, scheduled for 7:30 p.m., is being presented by the university's music department and the Southeast Missouri Council on the Arts.
The orchestra, under the direction of Sara Edgerton, will open with a performance of Bach's Baroque masterpiece, "Brandenburg Concerto No. 4" for two flutes, violin and orchestra.
The concert also will feature a performance by guest artist and violinist Darcy Drexler. Drexler, whose concerts have been performed on public radio, is a member of the music faculties of the String Academy at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the Killington Music Festival in Vermont. She performs concerts throughout the nation and has performed with the Dallas Chamber Orchestra, the Illinois Chamber Orchestra and the Sinfonia da Camera.
Other featured concert soloists will include Robert Fruehwald, assistant professor of music, and Paul Thompson on flutes; Gary Miller, associate professor of music, on harpsichord; and James Sifferman, assistant professor of music, on piano.
Concert tickets will be available at the door. Prices are $3 for adults, $1.50 for students, and free with a university I.D.
