The American Red Cross, in cooperation with the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department, will host the 12th annual Swim-A-Cross Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Cape Central Municipal Pool.
Swimmers volunteer to swim laps or jog around the pool in exchange for donations pledged by Swim-A-Cross sponsors. All money raised through the event will go to Red Cross programs, including disaster relief, service to military families, blood services, and water safety and first aid.
Prizes will be awarded to participants who secure the most donations. Prizes include a compact disc player, Six Flags tickets and a weekend for two at a St. Louis Drury Inn. All participants will receive free sunglasses from Burger King and a "bag of goodies."
Domino's Pizza will provide ~t-shirts to anyone who collects $35 or more. Sign-up sheets for the Swim-A-Cross are available at the Red Cross office at 2610 Gerhardt and at the Central Pool.
For additional information, contact the Red Cross office at 335-9471.
