Adam D. Cromer, 20, had an arraignment set for Oct. 11, said his lawyer, Stephen Wilson. The other defendant, Jacob Shephard, 18, was given a continuance until Aug. 29 because he has two unrelated probation violation cases pending in Scott County, according to his lawyer, Scott Reynolds.

In this case, Cromer and Shepard have been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, first-degree tampering and second-degree attempted burglary. Police say a Ford Flex, registered to Friends of Peter Kinder, was found torched and abandoned north of the city limits on Highway 177 early April 26.
