The suspect who evaded a driving-while-intoxicated checkpoint early Sunday left the Chrysler 300 he was driving in a residential neighborhood on Koch Street in favor of running on foot, police said.

The suspect who evaded a driving-while-intoxicated checkpoint early Sunday left the Chrysler 300 he was driving in a residential neighborhood on Koch Street in favor of running on foot, police said.

Cape Girardeau Sgt. Adam Glueck said the suspect escaped, but the vehicle was towed.

Police have identified the suspect in the case and have applied for an arrest warrant, Glueck said.

"If he wants to come in and claim it, he's welcome to do so," Glueck said.
