Suspect sought in molestation case

An arrest warrant was filed Thursday for a Cape Girardeau man accused of felony statutory sodomy.

Pollard Willie James, 56, of Cape Girardeau, is accused of performing oral sex on a 6-year-old relative at an apartment on William Street, according to a Jan. 28 probable-cause statement filed by officer Douglas Hays of the Cape Girardeau Police Department.

James then tried to get the victim to perform oral sex on him, but the victim refused, according to the statement. The victim told police the molestation occurred six years ago; the warrant placed the date between Aug. 1, 2010, and Aug. 31, 2011.

Pollard faces two charges of first-degree felony statutory sodomy. His bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety. He was still at large Thursday afternoon.
