JONESBORO, Ill. -- Illinois State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Jonesboro that resulted in a male suspect's injury.
According to a news release by Union County State's Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds, about 9:30 a.m. Thursday a break-in was reported at a Jonesboro residence.
The shooting occurred when area officers and an Illinois Department of Natural Resources officer encountered a man threatening them with a pistol.
The suspect was wounded and is being treated at a hospital; an investigation by the Illinois State Police is ongoing, the release said. The Union County State's Attorney's Office says it will release more information as it becomes available.
