ROBINSON, Ill. -- The suspect in a Jackson burglary has waived extradition and will be transported to Cape Girardeau County sometime this week, according to Capt. James Mulcahy of the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department.

Mark Lowery, 46, of Robinson was charged in connection with an April 10 burglary in east Jackson. He is considered a suspect in a string of jewelry burglaries that have plagued Cape Girardeau County since last fall, police have said.

Lowery was arrested by the Crawford County Sheriff's Department in his hometown in Illinois, and as of Monday night was still in the Crawford County Jail, about a four-hour drive from Cape Girardeau.

Authorities said he had been fighting extradition but waived those rights sometime Monday.

Arrangements will be made to transport Lowery the 218 miles to the Cape Girardeau County Justice Center this week, Mulcahy said.

In a sworn statement filed with the charges against Lowery, Jackson police Lt. Rodney Barnes wrote that jewelry stolen during an April 10 burglary in Jackson was traced to pawnshops in Robinson.
