Police arrested a suspect Tuesday in connection with possible drug trafficking, as a result of a vehicle stop, said Sgt. Barry Hovis, spokesman for the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
The vehicle was stopped because an officer on patrol recognized the car as belonging to a suspect in a trafficking case.
When the driver refused to stop, police pursued the vehicle for about seven blocks, Hovis said.
When the suspect was eventually apprehended, the type and amount of drugs found, marijuana and crack cocaine, led to the trafficking charges, Hovis said.
There were other people in the vehicle, including a child, at the time of the brief pursuit, Hovis said, causing police to apply for charges of trafficking, resisting arrest and child endangerment.
