Cape Girardeau police arrested an 18-year-old homeless man Tuesday morning after he allegedly robbed a convenience store.
Courtrel Walker allegedly walked into Cape Mart around 9 a.m., displayed a gun and demanded cash from the store's clerk. Darin Hickey, spokesman for the Cape Girardeau Police Department, said officers were nearby and found
the suspect not far from Cape Mart. He was arrested after a short foot chase in the 200 block of Lorimier Street.
Detectives were still interviewing Walker about the robbery Tuesday afternoon. Charges for the crime were still pending. Hickey said Walker may face additional charges as detectives look into other area robberies.
A similar robbery occurred at Cape Mart early last week. No suspect
has been arrested in the crime.
