A suspect is in custody after a 25-minute car chase that took place in Cape Girardeau on Sunday night.

According to Cape Girardeau Police spokesman Jason Selzer, officers tried to pull over the driver of a white Pontiac Grand Prix at Abbey Street and Kenneth Drive at 5:55 p.m. for failure to yield.

The driver led police on a chase that lasted until 6:19 p.m. The car was stopped with a spike strip to flatten the tires near Route K and Highway 25.

Selzer said the man was wanted for multiple warrants and a federal warrant. Police hadn't yet released the name of the suspect.

Police scanner reports indicated the chase throughout the city, including Broadway downtown.
