KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The superintendent of Catholic schools in the Kansas City-St. Joseph diocese has resigned to take a new job.

The diocese announced Wednesday that Marlon De La Torre is moving to the diocese's Office of Evangelization and Catechesis. He had held the superintendent's job for two years.

The Kansas City Star reports that Bishop Robert W. Finn appointed Vice Chancellor Claude Sasso as interim superintendent.
