During the storm, which started just before 4:41 a.m., winds gusted to 60 mph and the overall constant wind speed was about 40 miles per hour, according to MidWest Weather Inc., at the Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport.

The storm also brought about three-quarters of an inch of rain. At one point, visibility at the airport was down to one-sixteenth of a mile. The storm ended just after 6 a.m.

The storm also produced frequent lightning and blew down several trees and tree limbs. Power outages were also reported.
