Following a successful campaign, the United Way of Southeast Missouri's board of directors approved core program allocations at a recent meeting. Thirty-two agencies and organizations will use funding to support 39 programs, providing services to meet a variety of needs in Southeast Missouri.

As in 2004, additional funds have been set aside by the board to be allocated in early summer. As one of the top community issues identified through the community assessment process, the United Way board has decided to continue to focus additional funding toward family issues.

The United Way of Southeast Missouri surpassed its first time $1 million goal and has raised more than $1.03 million to date.

"We are so excited about the impact we are able to have in this community," said Nancy Jernigan, director of United Way of Southeast Missouri. "But we know we would not be able to do this without the continued generosity of those who live and work here."
