BOLIVAR -- A number of Southeast music students won awards at the recent Missouri Music Teachers Association convention in Bolivar.
Leading the way was Kevin Hill, a senior from Burfordville. Hill won a first-place award in the College Upper Division.
Hill plays trumpet and is a student of Marc Fulgham, an instructor of music at the university.
Receiving honorable mention awards were Southeast piano students Patryce King and Yu-yun (Nicki) Shih. Both sophomores, they competed in the Undergraduate Honors Division.
King is from New Cambria and Shih is from Cape Girardeau.
Both are students of Dr. James Sifferman, an associate professor of music at the university.
