Students at Louis J. Schultz School will continue a Christmas tradition as they join the list of Toy Box donors.
On Tuesday students who bring toys or cash donations to school will get a "paws" stamp on their hands or cheeks to "kind of say, I gave," said Betty Schuetts, a co-sponsor of Schultz's Student Council.
Application deadline for Toy Box has been extended to Monday because of Friday's bad weather.
Applications may be filled out at the Salvation Army, 701 Good Hope, between 10 and noon and 1 and 4 p.m.
Student Council organizes the annual "Paw Day" event, which has been going on for "at least 10 years," Schuetts said.
The annual toy drive for underprivileged children is sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Jaycees and the Southeast Missourian.
"When we first started this years ago, we used an eyebrow pencil to draw the paws on," Schuetts said. "Then we found a rubber stamp."
Students can make their donations before school or during their lunch breaks, she said.
"We have set a goal that we're going to try to meet," she said, adding this year's goal is $300.
Last year, the students raised "about $300" in donations, Schuetts said.
Students wear paws in honor of the school's newspaper, The Paw, Schuetts said.
Jaycees Santas will suit up and deliver toys to children's homes between 6 and 9 p.m. Dec. 21.
Toys are still needed to help Cape Girardeau children have a merry Christmas.
New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off at Boatmen's Bank, Capital Bank, Commerce Bank, Coldwell Banker, First National Bank, Gulliver's Travels, Mercantile Bank, Chuck E. Cheese's, West Park Mall or the Southeast Missourian.
Donations may be mailed to the Toy Box Trust, P.O. Box 4, Cape Girardeau, Mo., 63702-0004.
