Two L.J. Schultz students were winners in an essay contest sponsored by Scholastic Scope magazine.
James Davidson's entry was published in the magazine along with the list of 10 winners, one of whom was Sarah Chaudhari of Schultz.
Students were asked to write a description of what they would do if they were a teacher.
Davidson wrote: "If I were a teacher I would be an art teacher. Art is my life, and life is a big, blank piece of canvas. It is blank until you make something out of it. Then, after you make something out of it, it is colorful. Just like the life of young people; blank until colorful. And I want to put it up there. My life now is dim, but later it will be crammed with color. And that's why I want to be a teacher."
Davidson is the son of Kim Davidson of Cape Girardeau. Chaudhari is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Abdul Basit Chaudhari of Cape Girardeau.
