About 250 high schools from across Missouri will participate in the Missouri Association of Student Councils (MASC) convention at Cape Girardeau Central High School today.
The purpose of the convention is to promote leadership and give students an opportunity to share student council concerns, said Kathy Wright, Central's Student Council adviser.
Speakers from Louisiana, Canada and Colorado will address the group. Two students from Central are involved at the state level in MASC. They are Roy Roper, state president, and Bridget Stone, state chairperson.
Central has not hosted the state convention since 1982, Wright said.
