MARBLE HILL -- Janelle Leigh Johns, a graduating senior at Woodland High School, has been named one of approximately 1,500 semifinalists in the 1991 Presidential Scholars Program.
From the semifinalists, 141 will be selected as 1991 Presidential Scholars. The White House will announce their selection in early May.
The Presidential Scholars Program is the highest federal honor bestowed upon graduating high school seniors.
Scholars are selected on the basic of academic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character, and involvement in community activities.
Semifinalists were selected for their performance on either the SAT or ACT college entrance tests.
Johns is the daughter of Beverly Johns of Marble Hill.
