JACKSON - A Southwest Missouri State University business management student from Jackson now holds the highest state office in the Order of DeMolay.
Robert C. "Rob" Schreiner was installed last month as Missouri State Master Councilor for DeMolay. The ceremony was held at the St. Louis Moolah Shrine Temple.
Schreiner is the son of Eddie and Carolyn Schreiner of Jackson.
Schreiner's elevation to the one-year term as master councilor comes during the 75th anniversary of the founding of DeMolay. The organization was founded in 1919 in Kansas City.
DeMolay is a youth organization for young men ages 13 through 21. Most DeMolay chapters are sponsored by Masonic chapters but DeMolay is a separate organization. The Jackson Excelsior Chapter, Order of DeMolay was founded in 1960.
Schreiner said his duties as state master councilor includes "overseeing the chapters and coordinating information so that everyone knows what is happening around the state." He is currently traveling around the state visiting with DeMolay chapters.
Schreiner worked his way through the ranks of the Jackson DeMolay chapter, and then the state organization, where he has been a state officer for the past four years. Statewide, he has held the offices of marshal, junior councilor, senior councilor and deputy state master councilor. Schreiner is also past master councilor of the Jackson DeMolay chapter.
He has been awarded two of DeMolay's highest honors, the Chevalier Award and the Representative DeMolay Award.
Schreiner is not the first member of his family to participate in DeMolay. His brother Michael and their father Eddie have served as master councilors for the Jackson DeMolay chapter.
