Jennie Lukens of Cape Girardeau Central High School has been selected to attend the Sophomore Pilgrimage in Jefferson City Monday and Tuesday.
The Tuesday MWFC Club of Cape Girardeau is her sponsor.
Lukens is co-president of Math Club, a member of the National Beta Club leadership organization, a member of the Junior Varsity Scholar Bowl team, Varsity Band and the Varsity Color Guard.
She is on the honor roll, an active member of her church youth group, and for the past two summers has been a hospital volunteer.
Lukens has been a member of the Knowlege Master Open computer competition team, student director of the recent play, "Plaza Suite," a "1" rated oboe soloist in district competition, runner-up in the Southeast Missourian/Parade Magazine "Young Columbus" contest and an active member of the Student Senate at school.
The pilgrimage is a state project to promote education and responsible citizenship among young people. Those on the pilgrimage will tour the Capitol, Executive Mansion and the Supreme Court buildings. A luncheon with Missouri elected officials, who will speak on the duties of their offices, will be included in the day's activities.
Lukens is the daughter of Steven and Ellen Lukens.
