The 1993 annual Student Juried Art Exhibition will open with a reception and awards presentation Monday in the Southeast Missouri State University Museum Gallery.
The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The event showcases the highest quality art work produced by students in the university's art department during the past academic year. All art majors are required to submit two works from their studies. Other students taking art classes but who are not enrolled as art majors are invited to submit entries.
From more than 100 pieces submitted, more than 30 will be selected for exhibit in the University Museum Gallery. Awards also will be assigned by the juror to those works deemed best of the show. The exhibit will consist of work in drawing, printmaking, painting, graphic design and illustration, and fine crafts and sculpture.
Margaret Keller, an artist and coordinator of adult programs at the St. Louis Art Museum, has been invited to judge the student exhibition. She holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master of fine arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
She previously has taught at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, the University of Missouri-Rolla and Washington University.
The 1993 Student Juried Art Exhibit will continue through April 30. The University Museum Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. The museum is closed on weekends.
The museum is in Memorial Hall, on Circle Drive off Pacific Street on the university campus. For more information, contact (314) 651-2260.
