This Sunday was supposed to be a blessing of the animals with "All Creatures Great and Small."

The Rev. Robert Towner of the Christ Episcopal Church said the animal service would be combined with the blessing of the food next Sunday.

Blue Sky Church is a new undertaking of the Downtown Council of Churches, a loose affiliation of eight congregations in the downtown area of Cape Girardeau. The group -- which includes Christ Episcopal Church, Centenary United Methodist Church, St. James AME Church, Second Missionary Baptist Church, Greater Dimension Church, Grace United Methodist Church, Evangelical United Church of Christ and First Presbyterian Church -- also plans the annual Lenten Way of the Cross walk and other activities downtown.
