The City of Jackson began two of its annual street maintenance programs Thursday morning, and they are expected to continue until mid November.
The 2015 routing and sealing and concrete pavement improvements programs are being undertaken by Kluesner Construction of Kelso, Missouri, and Lappe Cement Finishing Inc. of Friedheim, Missouri, respectively.
Some roads will remain open during construction but will be restricted to one-lane traffic from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other roads will be closed entirely, and detours will be provided.
Routing and sealing will be done today on Francis Drive, Shawn Drive, Goodson Drive, East Independence Street, Forest Street and Olive Street; Monday on Greenway Drive; Tuesday on Kimbeland and Country Club drives; and Wednesday on West Washington and North Georgia streets.
Concrete pavement improvements will be done next week at Fairway Estates subdivision and North Shawnee Boulevard; the week of Oct. 26 on Wayne Avenue, Morton Street, Forest Acres subdivision, Indian Hills subdivision, Bel-Air Drive, Shawnee Circle and South Shawnee Boulevard; the week of Nov. 2 on Old Cape Road, Otto Drive, Donna Drive, Greenway Drive, Smith Trail and Gloria Street; the week of Nov. 9 on Kimbel Lane, Oak Street, Parkview Street, North Hope Street, Kent Street and Forest Street; and the week of Nov. 16 on Michael Anna, East Jefferson, Corinne and Gerald streets.
The city is urging motorists and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution in and around work zones and to stay back no less than 100 feet. Further scheduling and information can be found at jacksonmo.org.
