Max Stovall was named to the Missouri Veterans Home Assistance League, the organization that oversees spending of all donations to the veteran's home.

Stovall is a life-long resident of Cape Girardeau. He recently retired as a contractor. He also owned Stovall Block and Brick Company. He attended Southeast Missouri State University.

Stovall served on the Cape Girardeau City Council from 1956-60 as public works commissioner under the mayor-council form of government.

He is past president of the Cape Girardeau Rotary Club, past commander of the Cape Girardeau American Legion Post 63 and presently serves as trustee of the Cape Girardeau V.F.W. Post 3838.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the Army Combat/Amphibious Engineers, landing on the Normandy beaches on D-Day. He was awarded seven Battle Stars, including one for combat in the Battle of the Bulge.

Other members of the Assistance League are Don Thomasson, president; Cleo Mabrey, treasurer; Glenneta Vogelsang, secretary; Carl L. "Mack" Estes, all of Cape Girardeau; and Harland Siebert of Jackson.
