A storm that blustered through the area Tuesday left some in Cape Girardeau without electricity, but not for long.
Around 7 p.m., the storm caused the power to go out at Broadway and Perry Avenue. A few minutes later, AmerenUE trucks were called to restore power near Lexington and Saratoga avenues, said a police department spokesman.
In Jackson, lightning hit the police department building, leaving the department without phone service for a few hours. The 911 lines were rerouted to the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department, and calls were relayed to the police department by radio.
A power line went down in Jackson, the police department said, but power was restored within a few hours.
