Burn victims should never apply ointment, butter or other substances. For minor burns, clothing should be removed if not stuck.

A sterile dressing immersed in sterile water can be applied while waiting for medical attention.

For major burns, never remove clothing from the victim. Cover the burn with a clean cloth and elevate burned feet or legs.

and remember "Stop, drop, and roll" to put the fire out.
