Stonewall Democrats to meet Tuesday

The inaugural meeting of the Southeast Missouri chapter of the Stonewall Democrats will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose Bed Inn, 611 S. Sprigg St. in Cape Girardeau.

The meeting, postponed from February, will include a potluck dinner and discussions of issues. The Stonewall Democrats are a nationwide Democratic Party organization dedicated to advancing issues important to gays, lesbians and transgender individuals.

The group advocates on issues of personal privacy and seeks equal treatment under federal and state laws for unions between homosexuals. The new chapter joins more than 90 similar chapters across the United States.
