MINER, Mo. -- A stolen tractor-trailer truck carrying 38,000 pounds of anhydrous ammonia was recovered Wednesday near the Arkansas border, police said.
The methamphetamine-related theft ended without incident when the vehicle was discovered at a truck stop about 90 miles away in Cardwell, Mo.
The tractor-trailer truck was reported stolen in Miner shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday. It was located Wednesday morning in generally good condition, police said.
Besides a missing citizens band radio, very little was missing from the vehicle. Only a small amount of anhydrous ammonia, if any, was stolen.
Anhydrous ammonia is a chemical fertilizer used in agriculture that is also an ingredient in manufacturing methamphetamine. Law enforcement officials say its street value is between $200 to $400 a quart.
Investigators from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the FBI are assisting in collecting evidence that may lead to an arrest.
