Stoddard County murder suspect released on bond

BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- A Catron, Mo., man accused of murdering his son has been released on bond, according to court documents.

Charles C. Goforth, 40, was arrested May 5 and charged with second-degree murder and the unclassified felony of armed criminal action.

Goforth's attorney Steven C. Wilson filed a motion for bond reduction on Oct. 17. Goforth's bond was reduced from $500,000 to $200,000 on Nov. 7 and he posted bond the next day.

A case review is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 19, 2012.

The victim, 20-year-old Patrick Goforth, reportedly died from a single gunshot wound to the head at the home of the elder Goforth.

In an October preliminary hearing, Charles Goforth's other son, Josh Goforth, testified that his father had been using bath salts for some time and had at one point asked the sons to move out because he didn't want to hurt them.
