Stoddard County man pleads guilty to statutory sodomy

BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- A Bloomfield man pleaded guilty Monday in a Stoddard County courtroom to charges stemming from an early 2009 accusation of statutory rape, the Daily Statesman newspaper reported.

Charlie Glass, 66, who was charged in connection with a relationship with a 15-year-old girl, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of the Class D felony of second-degree statutory rape.

Glass was originally charged with the Class C felony of second -egree statutory rape, two counts of the Class B felony of kidnapping and one count of the Class C felony of sexual abuse.

Leading to the accusations was a report from the alleged victim's mother, who appeared at the Bloomfield police station on Feb. 19, 2009, stating that her daughter had "been raped" by Glass two days prior on Feb. 17 at Lake Wappapello, Mo.

Glass consistently denied, in his statement to police, having taken part in any "inappropriate" behavior with the alleged victim.

A sentencing assessment report (SAR) has been ordered, and a sentencing has been scheduled for July 21 at 10:30 a.m.
