Stoddard County man killed in Thursday crash

PUXICO, Mo. -- A Thursday afternoon crash left a Puxico man dead and one woman seriously injured.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on County Road 271, approximately four miles east of Puxico.

The report states that a 1987 Ford driven by 20-year-old Joseph D. Wiley of Puxico ran off the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned. One of the passengers, 24-year-old John Wiley of Puxico, was partially ejected from the vehicle and died.

Lorrie Wiley, 24, also of Puxico, sustained serious injuries and, as a result, was airlifted from the scene to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

None of the individuals in the crash were wearing seat belts, according to the crash report.
