Weekend searches produced no new leads concerning the whereabouts of a Cape Girardeau man who went missing Jan. 15, his family says.

Bobby Hennecke was reported missing to police Jan. 20, though no one has heard from him since Jan. 15, his sister-in-law, Gail Hennecke, said Tuesday.

Hennecke disappeared after going to church and watching football with a friend Jan. 15, Gail Hennecke said. Hennecke's friend took him home around 5:30 p.m. that day.

When Gail Hennecke and her husband, William, went to Bobby Hennecke's Ellis Street apartment over the weekend, they found that no one had been there in weeks, Gail Hennecke said.

"There was no water in the sink or shower and there was old food in the refrigerator," she said. "Nothing was disturbed.

Gail Hennecke said Cape Girardeau police told her they searched parts of the Mississippi River over the weekend to see if he had fallen in, but did not find any trace of the man.

Police spokesman Jason Selzer said there were no new developments in the search. The department said last week that it has checked with business owners -- including bars and restaurants -- that Bobby Hennecke is known to frequent and they have not seen Hennecke there either. Foul play is not suspected.

Bobby Hennecke moved to Cape Girardeau from Sullivan, Mo., in June 2010, his sister-in-law said. He is retired, but devoted much of his time to volunteering at the Salvation Army.

Hennecke volunteered at the Salvation Army five days a week, his sister-in-law said. A call to the Salvation Army went unanswered Tuesday afternoon.

He also had a vested interest in Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

"He didn't have much reason to leave," Gail Hennecke said, noting that police are trying to get a warrant to see if his bank account has been used in the past few weeks.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the department at 335-6621.
