Steelman's criticism of Hulshof comes just days after some Republican Party officials made a plea for the gubernatorial candidates to avoid a divisive primary.

A Steelman spokesman says Hulshof has missed substantive votes.

A Hulshof spokesman dismisses the criticism as an attempt to slow the momentum Hulshof gained over the weekend from an endorsement by Sen. Kit Bond at the Republican State Convention.
