On April 30 about 250 athletes will take part in the annual tradition, the Steamboat Classic Triathlon, throughout the street of Cape Girardeau and at the Central Municipal Pool.
The event, now in its 22nd year, is set to kick off at 9 a.m. with a 500-yard swim at the pool. That will be followed by a 15.5 mile bike ride and a 5-mile run, both through Cape Girardeau.
Athletes in 10 age divisions will compete for the top prize.
If you think you're tough enough to race, or just want to watch someone in much better shape than yourself put their bodies through a physical hell, then call the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department at 335-5421.
