STE. GENEVIEVE -- The city's sixth annual Bastille Days celebration begins today and runs through Sunday.
The event, a celebration of the French Revolution, features a "storming of the Bastille," in which hundreds of people, many in 18th century costumes, march to the old Ste. Genevieve jail, where they hear a reading of Rousseau's classic, "The Rights of Man." The storming will take place Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Ste. Genevieve Municipal Band will present concerts Thursday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
An art exhibit will be on display Saturday and Sunday in the garden of the Shaw House and a candlelight tour of four historic homes will take place Saturday at 7 p.m.
