A Marble Hill, Missouri, man reportedly told Bollinger County sheriff’s deputies they had done such a good job taking marijuana off the streets he had resorted to growing the plants himself, according to a probable-cause affidavit.
Kevin D. Wilfong, 42, was charged with felony intent to distribute a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested but released on an order for personal recognizance bond singed by Judge Scott Thomsen.
Sheriff’s deputies received a tip Tuesday that Wilfong and another man had been growing marijuana plants at a house on Bollinger County Road 300, according to the probable-cause affidavit from deputy Darren Bullard. The other man gave deputies the consent to search the property Wednesday and admitted to officers he had been growing a few small marijuana plants outside. The man then gave consent to search the inside of the house where deputies found 13 more marijuana plants, Bullard wrote.
In total, deputies found 17 marijuana plants, three bongs and eight pipes.
Wilfong was placed under arrest because he had an active warrant from Taney County, Missouri, according to the probable-cause affidavit. Wilfong said he and the other man were growing marijuana only for personal use, the affidavit stated. Bullard noted Wilfong had a prior conviction for distribution of a controlled substance.
