Application forms are available at University of Missouri Extension offices for low-cost tree and shrub seed~lings for wildlife and conservation plantings.
The Missouri Department of Conservation Seedling Distribution Program operates a forest tree nursery near Licking. A variety of seedlings suitable for forestry, wildlife food and cover, farmstead and field windbreaks, erosion control, and other environmental practices are grown for annual distribution to Missouri residents. All seedlings are a year or two old and sizes vary depending on species.
This year, 50 species of trees and shrubs are available at costs ranging from $2 to $6 for a bundle of 25.
Order forms may be obtained from University Extension offices in each county. The extension centers also have two guidesheets, forestry assistance to landowners and planning tree windbreaks in Missouri, that will be included with the order applications.
