JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The House of Representatives on Wednesday issued a resolution declaring Dr. Frank Nickell of Cape Girardeau an "outstanding Missourian."
Nickell, a history professor at Southeast Missouri State University and director of the Center for Regional History, accepted the resolution from House Speaker Rod Jetton, R-Marble Hill, and state Rep. Nathan Cooper, R-Cape Girardeau.
"It is a distinct honor to be singled out in this fashion," Nickell said. "To be introduced by Nathan Cooper, a former Southeast student, is very special."
In addition to his academic achievements, including authoring several books, the resolution highlights Nickell's role in founding the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
