JACKSON, Mo. -- The Missouri High School Rodeo will be held Saturday and Sunday at Flickerwood Arena.
Approximately 240 entrants will compete in saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, pole bending, team roping, calf roping, bareback riding, break away roping, goat tying, steer wrestling and bull riding.
High school rodeo contestants compete throughout the fall and spring season to qualify for the Missouri State Rodeo Finals to be held in June.
Illinois high school competitors also have been invited to participate.
Missouri was one of the charter members of the National High School Rodeo Association. Membership in the NHSRA entitles students to compete yearly for $270,000 in scholarships.
Saturday's performance will begin at 7 p.m. The Sunday activities will begin with cowboy church at 7:30 a.m. followed by the performance at 1 p.m.
Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and under.
