Three convenience store clerks and the Cape Girardeau County businesses they work for have been cited for selling alcohol to minors as part of a compliance check by the Missouri Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control.
On Wednesday, agents from the division used an underage person to visit 10 retail locations that sell alcohol. At seven of the locations, clerks did not sell to the minor. But at three locations, the minor was able to purchase alcoholic beverages.
Ernst Warren, 31, was cited for selling alcohol to a minor while working at the Smith Stop in Dutchtown. Cheryl Terry, 52, was cited for a sale at the Delta Quick Mart in Delta and Brett Faust, 19, was cited for a sale at D Mart No. 7, 4517 N. High St. in Jackson. Along with the charges against the clerks, each business was cited for selling liquor to a minor and faces possible fines and/or suspension of their liquor licenses, the division said in a news release.
The seven businesses that did not sell alcohol to the undercover minor were Jackson Citgo, 1831 E. Jackson Blvd., Jackson; Wal- Mart Supercenter No. 122, 3051 E. Jackson Blvd., Jackson; Kidds Jackson, 304 E. Jackson Blvd., Jackson; Jackson Bait and Tackle, 1024 N. High St., Jackson; Route K One Stop, 5827 Route K, Cape Girardeau; Rhodes 101 Stop, Highway 72 and 34, Jackson; and Casey's General Store No. 2028, 920 W. Independence St., Jackson.
