All three members of the city's appointed school board voted Thursday night to lift the restrictions. The deed changes will begin June 30, to allow the district time to evaluate its need for buildings.

A lawsuit had been filed by activists Rex Sinquefield and W. Bevis Schock, who believed the restrictions were put in place to prevent charter school expansion in the city. Their lawyer, Josh Schindler, said Friday they'll seek to have the suit dismissed once the deed restrictions are lifted.
