ST. LOUIS -- A teenager was shot to death by police after pointing a pistol at an officer and refusing orders to drop it, authorities said.

Relatives identified the teen as Jeremy Robinson, an eighth-grader at Turner Middle School whose age was variously given at 14 or 15. He died Friday about one block from his home.

Family members said they didn't believe that Robinson had a weapon. An aunt, Teresa Adams, said the teen had left home about 15 minutes earlier to go to a nearby liquor store.

and she did not know why he was in the pickup.
